Giancarlo Torresani

Born in Mals (Bolzano, Italy) in 1948, for several years he was a middle school teacher. From a previous experience in the field of arts decided to switch to photography in 1968. He has worked for many years in the organizing and the spreading of photography managing and curating exhibition spaces of both established authors and new talents. Interested in the communication process he carries out a cultural operator activity in visual communication as a critic and as an expert in Portfolio reading.
Organizes and conducts photography courses of various kinds – Stage – seminars – workshops on the theme – image reading courses in Schools, Public Libraries, Public Institutions, Regional Photo clubs and smaller clubs. Editor of Fotoit.it (www.fotoit.it) he collaborates with some magazines in the realization of editorials on art photography. Member of FIAF (www.fiaf-net.it – Italian Federetion of Photografic Associations): Provincial and Regional Director (1984/1999), National Council FIAF (1999/2008), since 1999 he is working as Director of DAC “Cultural Activities Department”. Awarded (1986) BFI “Meritorious Of Italian Photography”, receives from the FIAP (1997), the honor ESFIAP “Excellence FIAP Pour Services Rendus” (www.fiap.net – Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique). In 2002, in recognition of his long and fruitful work of spreading and teaching in favor of photography and FIAF, was awarded Sem.FIAF “Sower FIAF”.
