Lola Paprocka
Lola Paprocka is a self-taught photographer with a practice centring in documentary imagery. Her focus is on creating work with sentimental narratives that are authentic and honest in their representation of the subject whilst retaining her personal clean and unfussy aesthetic. Many of her projects focus on the theme of adolescence and the interactions of friendship groups among youths, especially those from marginalised communities and subcultures. Her most recent book Studio Portraits (2020), created in collaboration with Pani Paul and shot over a five year period, features a diverse group of youths bound together by a their use of Mile End Skate Park. Lola’s work has been exhibited worldwide, including in galleries in London, Melbourne, New York, Warsaw and Paris.
Alongside her personal practice, she also shoots as part of a photography duo Pani Paul under the moniker Lola & Pani. This work (as well as parts of her personal practice) overlap into the fashion industry where they have contributed stories to magazines including The New York Times, British Vogue, i-D Magazine and M le Monde!
Lola Paprocka is a curator, founder and creative director of Palm* Studios, a London based publisher and online platform focusing on photography. It showcases artists and photographers through creative projects, weekly online features, exhibitions, events and book launches. Lola curates and edit each event and project. She have published over 18 books with various artists including: Caroline Tomkins, Molly Matalon, Sky Wilson, Vitorria Gerardi, Jacob Lillis, Renato D’Agostin and writers: David Campany, Lucy Kumara Moore, Chelsea Hodson, Shelley Jones and William Barnes. Lola is a visiting lecturer at LCC and LCF in London.
