Nadia Marmondi is the first ever URBAN Zine Award Winner

We are thrilled to announce that Nadia Marmondi has won the inaugural URBAN Zine Award for her evocative project Divenire (Becoming) . Marmondi’s zine delves into the interplay between human emotions and natural elements, using powerful visual metaphors to explore transformation and identity. Through her unique approach, Marmondi turns color into a narrative element, creating abstract landscapes that reflect the fluidity of thought and change.

“Il progetto “Divenire” di Nadia Marmondi, evoca un viaggio interiore che ci trasporta nel regno delle emozioni umane e degli elementi naturali. L’acqua, le rocce simboleggiano metafore di cambiamento, trasformando i pensieri in luoghi astratti. Il suo linguaggio fotografico trasforma il colore in un non colore e diventa elemento primario della narrazione.” – Federica Berzioli

About Nadia Marmondi:

Born in 1998, Nadia has always been a highly creative individual with a deep love for art. After completing her studies in accounting, she worked for four years in a tax consulting firm. However, she soon realized that this career path was not aligned with her passions. Nadia made the bold decision to leave her job and fully dedicate herself to photography, her true calling. She enrolled in the Italian Institute of Photography in Milan, where she graduated in 2023.

Her work explores themes of personal growth and transformation, often incorporating elements from the natural world as metaphors for human experience. Nadia continues to pursue her passion, constantly pushing the boundaries of her creativity and artistic expression.

The Jury’s Choice mentions works that have captured the judge’s attention with their creativity, originality, and artistic execution. While not taking the top prize, these projects stand out for their compelling narratives and unique perspectives, leaving a lasting impression on the jury.

Jury’s Choice – 2nd Ranked

Anatoly Suzdaltsev’s On Orbite – Visual diary capturing both the light and dark aspects of the Orbita district in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This project presents a multifaceted view of the district, from children’s ice rinks to space communication stations, offering a rich cultural and personal perspective.

Jury’s Choice – 3rd Ranked

Carola Cunzolo’s Mr. White tells the story of a wandering alter ego exploring themes of memory, love, and self-discovery. Through poetic and reflective prose, Cunzolo’s zine invites readers to ponder existence and personal growth.
