“The photographer is the one who sees what others look at without seeing”.
Philippe Litzler attended the classes of Allan Porter, the Editor-in-Chief of the legendary CAMERA magazine, at the University of Basel, which strongly influenced his graphic approach to the presentation of a photo magazine.
Editor-in-Chief of PHOTO SUISSE magazine of the Swiss Federation of Photography, he has produced more than 60 issues. He was also the Editor of the French part of the Swiss Photography Review, the magazine of the Swiss Professionals.
In the meantime, he has been a columnist for the Geneva magazine PHOTO-CINÉ-EXPERT and for the monthly Photo Sélection in Quebec.
He was also the Editor-in-Chief of France Photographie magazine, a position he held for 9 years (45 issues) until June 2016.
He has given many conferences throughout France on Photography and still offers seminars that help to understand the evolution of photography and also how to improve one’s own images.
In May 2016, he was invited to exhibit his photographic work at the National Library in Beijing.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of OPENEYE magazine, today’s look at photography, which – in addition to being digital and bilingual French-English – is also free and interactive, with about 40’000 subscribers.
He has also been solicited as a photo judge in prestigious national and international competitions (European Kodak Portrait Award, Royal Belgian Grand Prix of Photography, Catalan, ISF World Cup 2019, SIPA 2019 and 2020, Trieste Photo Day 2021 and 2022, International Street Photo Award for several years, etc.), organizing himself in his time many prestigious competitions such as the Grand Prix d’Auteur de la FPF.
