The URBAN Photo Arena 2023 challenge has begun!
The long-awaited moment has finally arrived. We can kick off this year’s new competition: URBAN Photo Arena 2023, the international photo contest dedicated to young under 35 talents. It works like a knockout rounds bracket tournament, just like in the World Cup.
The rounds and the Jury
The photos will “battle” in rounds and they’ll have the competing authors themselves as the voting jury. In a second phase of the contest, none other than some of URBAN 2023’s special jurors including: Alec Soth, Jérôme Sessini, Kadir van Lohuizen and many others.
Go to the tournament’s bracket!
We reward photographic talent
An eliminated author can still become a winner. How? In addition to the classic podium with the jury’s favorite photos, we want to reward perseverance in voting and photographic intuition in knowing how to choose the winning photo. This is the “Best Voter” award, based on a score accumulation system.
The score
Each time a photo voted by you moves on to the next round, the voting author will also win points! The number of points to be won will gradually increase with each round.
The best on display
We want to thank each participant and give visibility to under 35 talent. We will award the top 16 ranking photographs with a group exhibition. The photos will be exhibited at the Arturo Fittke Hall in the heart of the city of Trieste. The semi-finals will be judged on Friday, October 27 by Jérôme Sessini e Kadir van Lohuizen. Top URBAN Juror Alec Soth will choose the winning photo on Saturday, October 28 2023 during the Trieste Photo Days award ceremony.
Talent Space 2024
Together with us, the Pietro Pittini Foundation supports talent and photographic creativity of the under 35 youth. We will therefore choose, among all URBAN Photo Arena participants, an author who has particularly impressed us with their originality and artistic voice. The selected author will be offered an opportunity for visibility at the next edition of the Trieste Photo Days festival in 2024.
URBAN Photo Arena is made possible with the support and contribution of Fondazione Pietro Pittini.
