URBAN Photo Awards events at Trieste Photo Days 2023
Here we are! This weekend the 2023 edition of URBAN Photo Awards will finally culminate at Trieste Photo Days festival with events, exhibitions, award ceremonies and exceptional guests.
From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 October you can visit the winners exhibition of URBAN Photo Awards 2023 at Sala Xenia, the main venue of the festival, which will host various presentations and talks, and where you will find all the photographic volumes produced for the festival, including the catalogue of the contest URBAN unveils the City and its Secrets – Vol. # 09, Cafuné by Rafael Fabrés, winning project of the URBAN Book Award and Parisian night stories, winning project of the URBAN Press Award.
To find out who will be the first ranked for each category, the Honorable Mentions, the Remarkable Rewards, the Overall Winner, and Trieste Photo Days Best Author, see you at the URBAN Photo Awards Ceremony, on Saturday 28 October 2023 at 17:30, at the Auditorium of the Museo Revoltella. Super-guests Alec Soth, Jérôme Sessini and Kadir van Lohuizen will award, respectively, the Winner Overall of the Single Photos section, the Winner of the URBAN Projects & Portfolios. and the URBAN Book Award winner. The winner of the special prize “Icons of Architecture”, born from the collaboration between URBAN Photo Awards and Matrix4Design and the winner of the Exhibition-Prize at the Poreč Museum (Croatia) will also be awarded.
On display until 26 November 4 selected projects at the Civico Museum Sartorio for the “Trieste Museums” exhibition-prize, offered by the Municipality of Trieste’s Civici Musei di Storia e Arte.
The Mercato Coperto (Covered Market, in the heart of the cuty) has been transformed in an extraordinary art gallery hosting the biggest photography exhibition Trieste has ever seen: over 600 shots are displayed in this iconic location under the title “Urban Photography: Trieste and Cities from the World” . The best of this year’s URBAN selection is displayed toghether with dotART’s project “Trieste Audace”, an homage to the city which hosts the festival.
The Palazzo delle Poste Centrali (Central Post Office Palace Building) is also hosting an exhibition entirely dedicated to the most beautiful photos of URBAN 2023, on display until November 4th.
Also not to be missed at Trieste Photo Days are the events involving our URBAN jurors. Kadir van Lohuizen as Guest Author for 71%- The State of Water, a photographic tribute to the most precious human resource. The dutch photographer will be present for a book signing (Sala Veruda, 4 pm) and the project presentation on Friday 27 October (Sala Xenia, 7pm). Don’t miss his talk on Sunday 29, whee he’ll present his latest project “Food for though”. Jérôme Sessini is the protagonist of the project Mythography III: Diana, Minerva, Ceres – a tribute to the three greek-roman divinities. The French photographer will present Mythography on Friday 27 October at 5.30 pm in the Sala Xenia, while he will give a talk on Sunday 29 October at 11.30. Finally, the very last places are still available for his intensive workshop on Saturday 28 October. Laura Zalenga will lead an intensive workshop as well, and a photographic walk with a model.
