This small group of photos, part of a larger series, is a personal notebook of a stay in the Big Apple during one of my personal photo exhibition. Photographing New York is not an easy task, especially of its popularity in photographic, cinematic and literary history. So I chose to revisit, with my look and a certain amount of irony, some recurring icons in the collective imagination. An image of the Statue of Liberty crossed by a yellow cab, a colorful building with an almost abstract structure, the symbol of McDonald's coming from the sky, the Empire State Building almost trapped in a web or a reflection in the showcase of the International Center of Photography confused with the vintage wedding image of a couple. A tangle of fire escapes, the unusual reflections on a skyscraper's glass or an old building whose crimson façade still advertises exotic travel adventures or a mysterious faded male figure, perhaps a cigarette ad, that reminds a 40s graphics and the world of noir movies.
