Children Of A Lesser God
These people fled their homeland in the hope of a better future for their children. They surpassed all risks until now, but in the end they were trapped here in Piraeus. Their tents are very small and uncomfortable, staged next to one another and refugees endure everything hoping soon to continue their journey to reach their destination. Although the volunteers help the refugees as much as they can, their daily life is very difficult, especially for children who are deprived of everything. These children have nowhere to go, they sleep there, they play there and unfortunately they are deprived of education, health care, healthy living, and so much more. My soul hurt seeing small children to put nylon in a fruit crate and then to wash their clothes inside it. But fortunately children forget easily their worries and they play joyfully between the tents with crates, ropes, balls, etc. Volunteers help and play with them. What can you say to these children when they are looking at you with their innocent eyes full of sadness, wonder and anticipation? Something must be done soon to overcome this situation, no one has to suffer anymore, let alone children.
